Modern slavery statement
For the financial year ending 2026
Introduction
Dorset Leisure Group is committed to preventing acts of modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within its business and supply chain. We recognise that modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our group's slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 2026.
Our organisation
Dorset Leisure Group is a locally owned hospitality group based in Weymouth, Dorset. We operate six venues across Weymouth and Abbotsbury: Rendezvous, The Royal Oak, The Anchor, Baluga Night Club, The Ilchester Arms and Little Harbour Club. Our workforce is made up of permanent and seasonal employees, and we engage with a limited number of suppliers and contractors to support our operations.
Our supply chains
Our main supply chains include food and beverage suppliers, cleaning and facilities services, maintenance contractors, and recruitment agencies. We expect all suppliers and contractors to share our commitment to ethical working practices and to comply with applicable employment and human rights laws.
Policies and standards
We are committed to fair recruitment, fair pay and safe working conditions. Our approach is reflected in our recruitment practices, employee contracts, and whistleblowing arrangements. We encourage anyone who has concerns about modern slavery, forced labour or human trafficking to raise them through our management team or via accounts@dorsetleisure.co.
Due diligence and risk assessment
We assess potential modern slavery risks in our supply chains and take reasonable steps to identify and address them. This includes reviewing supplier practices, requiring appropriate standards where relevant, and being alert to indicators of exploitation during recruitment and day-to-day operations. We pay particular attention to sectors and roles where temporary, low-paid or migrant labour is more common.
Training and awareness
We provide guidance to managers and those involved in recruitment and procurement so they understand the signs of modern slavery and know how to respond. We keep our team informed of the importance of this issue and the steps we take as a business to prevent it.
Effectiveness and review
We monitor the effectiveness of our approach through management oversight, staff feedback and supplier engagement. We will review this statement annually and update it to reflect changes in our business, supply chain and legal obligations.
